A discussion of health and wellness is impossible without mentioning mental health. However, mental health is more complicated than simply having a mental disorder or not. All aspects of our lives have an impact on our well-being, which in turn has an impact on how we experience life, work, and time with our loved ones. This discussion is more important than ever right now. The prevalent feeling in 2021 was one of sluggishness. According to BetterUp's data, more than 55% of workers were not suffering from a mental illness, but they weren't thriving either.

Now that physical health has received unprecedented attention due to the pandemic, it's time to examine the other important aspects of well-being. The discussion about mental health awareness has never been as public, as prevalent, or as significant. After all, understanding how to take care of your mental health requires developing awareness.
Learn about mental health awareness in this blog and how it affects both your personal and professional life.
What is mental health awareness?
“So what does mental health awareness mean, how do you define it, and how should you promote it?”
Mental health awareness is the continuous effort to reduce the stigma around mental illness and mental health conditions by sharing our personal experiences.
People usually suffer in silence, and their conditions go untreated, due to misinterpretations about mental health and mental fitness. Mental health awareness is an important social movement to improve both understanding and increase access to healthcare.
How can mental health awareness help?
Mental health awareness is essential in boosting mental health treatment and behavioral health. It is an important and foundational conversation for changing to a more proactive model of mental health.
Increasing our awareness enables us to begin recognizing the signs and symptoms when we're feeling “off,” much like we do with physical illness. Currently, we only replenish our tanks when they are “empty.”
Why is mental health awareness so important?
“Mental health is not just a conversation for people dealing with mental health disorders. It impacts our social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and overall well-being.”
Sadly, there are people who do not receive the treatment they deserve because of the stigma associated with mental health. Others do not even know that there are treatments available. When these people suffer quietly, they feel lonely and isolated. We miss out on their luminance.
Suicide is one of the top causes of death every year. It has been on the rise in recent years. This is a fact for all economic categories, nationalities, and genders, although some groups are at a notably higher risk.
Each and every suicide is tragic. Suicide has a huge financial cost. Not only does it justify financial losses, but it's also traumatic for the surviving family members of the deceased. We can never completely know how our actions will affect other people, but if spreading awareness will save just one life, it will have been worth it.
